1959年生まれ。
筑波大学大学院博士課程単位取得退学、文学修士
山口大学助手、講師、助教授を経て現職。
RESEARCH
日英語対照音韻論・形態論。日本語と英語を比較しながら、アクセント付与や語形成のメカニズムを研究し、異なるタイプの言語のように見えても、いかに同じ原理や制約が働いているかを明らかにしている。

Professor Ohta completed the Graduate School of Literature and Linguistics, University of Tsukuba. After working as an associate professor at the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Yamaguchi University and a research fellow at the Linguistics Research Center at the University of California at Santa Cruz, he became a professor at the Faculty of Humanities at Yamaguchi University. He also worked as a co-researcher at the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics. His specialty is the study of morphological and phonological structures of Japanese and English.
