山口大学大学院医学系研究科博士課程修了、博士（医学）
山口大学医学部助手、東京大学医科学研究所研究員、産業技術総合研究所主任研究員（ミシガン大学留学）、島根大学医学部准教授を経て現職。

RESEARCH
生活習慣病と自然免疫の関連を解析し、新しい診断法や治療法の開発を目指しています。特に免疫能の日内変動が疾患発症に与える影響について興味を持っています。主な研究テーマは最近増加している脂肪肝からの肝がん発症メカニズムの解明や、骨髄移植後の予後改善法の開発やコホート研究による老化関連疾患の予防法開発です。

Professor Tanabe aims to analyze the relationship between lifestyle-related diseases and innate immunity in order to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic methods. He is particularly interested in the impact of diurnal changes in immunity on disease pathogenesis. His main research interests include the elucidation of the mechanism of liver cancer development from fatty liver, which has been increasing recently, and the development of methods to improve prognosis after bone marrow transplantation and the development of preventive methods for aging-related diseases through cohort studies.
